On September 30, 2015, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Ralph Brooks, M.D., after determining his practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.

The Board panel found that Dr. Brooks is suffering from a medical condition that is adversely impacting his ability to competently and safely practice medicine. Additionally, Dr. Brooks has been arrested several times related to domestic violence issues.

The Board panel determined the evidence demonstrates that Dr. Brooks’ continued practice of medicine, including the performance of minor surgery and the care and treatment of patients generally, poses a continuing threat to public welfare.

A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days’ notice to Dr. Brooks, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Brooks.

The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action.
